Arranged ICC ODI revive: Nepal may get a spot in 'new group'

The International Cricket Council (ICC) is accounted for to push for the formation of another new one-day international league that could advantage non-Test playing nations like Nepal.

In a report distributed in well known cricket site cricinfo.com, ICC is getting ready for a 13-group ODI class from 2019 that will include 10 Test playing groups and three Associates. "Arrangements are very much well planned to make another league from 2019 for 13 countries—accepted to be the ten Test groups, Afghanistan, Ireland and one other Associate, with Nepal upheld by some as a favored alternative in an open deliberation that still has some approach to run," cricinfo wrote in the report.

"The alliance will see all nations play each other more than three years, with the main two countries playing a play-off arrangement to decide the general champ of the class. Under the arrangements, every group would play a three-match arrangement either home or away against each other nation, adding up to 36 ODIs each over a three-year premise. The fourth year of every cycle would be saved for World Cup readiness," the report further included.

Previous national group captain turned mentor Binod Das said Nepal needs to snatch the open door yet set themselves up in the most ideal way. "ICC has been anticipating how they can extend the diversion and simultaneously acquire viewership and group. We have not done what should have been done as far as administration to get this sort of chance. Be that as it may, if the arrangement appears and we are prepared, we have to make the most out of it," said Das.

The side completing base following three years would confront assignment to the World Cricket League Championship (WCLC), the second level of one-day cricket, conceivably after a playoff with the victors of the WCLC. Nepal are presently playing the eight-group WCLC from where the main four groups development to the 2018 World Cup Qualifiers.

As per the report, Nepal are tipped to be the thirteenth group of the competition yet their consideration in the class is liable to draw debate, considering the position they are in world cricket. While groups like the Netherlands, Hong Kong, Scotland, Papua New Guinea and Kenya have underlined their main five certifications in the WCLC, Nepal right now stay at the 6th spot after the consummation of three rounds (six matches).

The report, in any case, said Nepal are prepared for the thirteenth spot independent of how they toll in the WCLC. "The ICC are known not inspired by the amusement's notoriety in Nepal, and are thinking about advancing Nepal paying little heed to their general remaining in the 2015-17 version of the WCLC, despite the fact that this is only one choice," the report said.

Das trusted that ICC has a solid base to pick Nepal. "ICC has perceived how cricket's fame has taken off in Nepal. To keep one-day cricket alive, they are looking for viewership and Nepal would be the right pick for them in spite of the fact that it falls behind as far as base. The thought itself is an inquiry to us whether we can deal with this open door or not," included Das.
