Istanbul record shop attacked by Radiohead fans

Jun 19, 2016-UK rock band Radiohead have denounced an assault on individuals listening to their new collection at a record store in the Turkish city of Istanbul.

About 20 suspected Islamists beat up clients and staff for drinking liquor and listening to music amid the Muslim blessed month of Ramadan.

Unverified reports said one individual was harmed in the episode late on Friday.

A protet on Saturday against the assault was scattered by police utilizing water gun and tear gas.

Radiohead portrayed the ambush on the Velvet Indieground store as a demonstration of "rough bigotry".

Local reports said the male assailants utilized sticks and bottles against those present.

The store in the Beyoglu area was livestreaming Radiohead's new collection A Moon Shaped Pool.

A Radiohead proclamation said: "Our hearts go out to those assaulted at Velvet IndieGround in Istanbul.

"We trust that some time or another we will have the capacity to think back on such demonstrations of rough prejudice as things of the antiquated past.

"For the present, we can just offer our fans in Istanbul our adoration and backing."
